Nouveau has been busy training and attending many activities and events for dementia awareness week, including one of our senior practitioners becoming a Dementia Friends Champion and the rest of our team becoming Dementia Friends.
Rheannon attended the sports village in Middlesbrough where there was a great set up of fun games and activities including new age curling, bowls, ping pong, and chair exercises. Rheannon said “It was a great way to kick off Dementia awareness week. Everyone got involved and had some fun, and there’s now plans to make it a monthly event which is a fantastic opportunity for the community and those living with dementia”.
On Wednesday Bethany and Rheannon attended the Dementia celebration event at The Jury’s Inn Middlesbrough, where Nouveau were presented with a certificate off the Mayor for all the fantastic work we’ve been doing on the Middlesbrough’s Steps to Wellbeing project. The audience got to see some of the work we’ve been doing by surprising them with a little chair dance to finish off the event.
We are very passionate about raising Dementia awareness and we will continue to develop our projects and support for carers and those living with dementia. It is very important to us to have a dementia friendly community so people are able to live life to the full and have the best quality of life.
Brian Rowcroft who trained our staff to be Dementia friends and hosted the celebration event is a big supporter in all the on going work and classes we have been delivering and says “The classes that Nouveau deliver people a great opportunity to stay healthy which is good for the mind, soul and body”
