Hurworth Primary’s Carnival Day

Over the past couple of months Nouveau Wellbeing have been working closely with years three and four at Hurworth Primary School as part of the Darlington Education Project. Emma Bryan, one of the Senior Practitioners has been teaching the children a range of dance styles and techniques, whilst also building confidence and self-esteem.

Emma attended Hurworth Primary’s Carnival day, where together with the children they created a samba dance routine which coincided with their Brazilian themed History lessons.
The afternoon was packed with fun activities including, samba dancing, samba drumming, creating head garments, tasting different exotic fruits, and drinking mocktails to finish off a busy day.

After lots of creativity, group work, devising, and practice, the children danced through the hallways to show the rest of the school what they had been working on.

Emma said “What a fantastic afternoon allowing the children to create their own routines with the knowledge and skills they’ve learnt in only eight lessons. Fab, fun afternoon all round”
